‘When Do We Start Fighting?’ is the new tune from Dog Unit. The piece started life as an expansive 45-minute jam, before being turned upside down in search of every rhythmic and melodic nuance, and whittled down into the six-minute barrage of sonic experimentation you see before you. Its first half is driven by groovy drums and a relentless four-note melody, but the second half bursts into life as an atmospheric, psychedelic-funk odyssey. Their tightness as a band is one of the defining features of their sound, as they interweave textures as if the four members of the band operate as one.
